UOX Classic Will Live On?

From UOX-Classic:
As everybody should already be aware of, Sargo has made a difficult decision to part with the UOX Classic Project to pursue the development of his own emulator. You can find his new project website here. Best of luck with the new project Sargo!

As for UOX Classic, it will continue on, as it has in the past with a large thanks to Sargo, Cyberspud, and many others. Over the next month or so, I will be performing a code audit to clean up the code in preparation of future changes. Although the code will change a lot, we will still maintain the objectives of maximum scriptability along with more user friendly utilities.

We are currently in the process of transferring the website and forums, but there are already plans to develop a UOX Classic shard with a classic worldfile.

I will let you know more as we continue on, but if you are interested in working on the test shard, please Private Message me in the forum. Thank you for your continued support, and I hope to hear from you soon!

UOX-Classic - End Of Line?
Monday, Apr 5, 2004, at 06:53 AM
From UOX-Classic:
At this time I have some news for everyone. I will release what I have for the latest UOXC code by the end of this month and I will no longer be working on UOXC. The domain name expires in August and I dont plan on renewing it so if someone wants to take over the project, by all means let me know.

I am moving onto another project.

Why? Well... Mostly for personal reasons but also for a few other reasons as well. One of the main reasons is due to the fact that people want to contribute code and scripts and whatever, is all fine, but when their coding style is 'questionable' at best and they wind up hardcoding shit that SHOULDN'T be hardcoded in the first place is just plain stupid! So I have to sift thru and countless added lines of GARBAGE to find something that they were talking about. For instance, hard coding NPCs? Why the fuck would you do that? Thats what the NPC.scp is for... *sigh*

Sorry folks but I have had enough of that and I wanted to start coding things the way I thought they should have been all along but, so many hands in the project (at times... from those coming and going) has made it harder and harder to do. I had to completely scrap a few ideas simply cause they would no longer work as intended with so many different coding styles involved. Fixing one thing only to break another because of this. Baaa! So I had to undo many things I did add and I wont be handing out those code peices cause (they are already deleted of my drive).

Now I know there are a few of you that are pretty new to UOXC and there are a few more that don't want to see UOXC die. To those who have supported and helped when they could I want to say 'Thanks!" A very special Thanks goes out to Cyberspud for all his hard work and great additions he has contributed to UOXC! It could never gotten to this point without you! *gets all teary eyed* Also thanks goes to punt who has also help guided me with ideas and motivation! And to everyone who worked on UOX3, otherwise UOXC could have never been!

Lastly, I thank You!

UOX-Classic Updates

Great to see UOX-Classic still around and still being updated. From UOX-Classic.
It has been some time since the site was updated so here is an update. Build 3 tests have gone pretty well for the most part. A few new bugs seemed to have surfaced (old and new versions) Im currently working on the Documentation by bringing it up-to-date and I think I will omit a few sections as it also seems to be rather 'useless' material. I am going to be working on some instability issues with world saves and file I/O that I have seen pop up recently (I too have had these same problems before).

What can you expect in the future? Well, how about more scriptability? Or more features? Im also currently working on bulk order deeds along with an enhanced method of handling them. OSI is a 'fair' job with them but I think I can make them a 1000 times better! Quests was mentioned in the forums as well. A set of default quest scripts would be a good idea the more I think about it. So I think I'll work a little on that in my spare time, such as making notes of ideas while at work and such. Things that are generally 'universal' to all shards.

I have a lot to do yet here before I can get to some of the things I want to do, but they are getting done. Slowly but they are getting done hehe. But just so everyone knows, I dont have any planned time for a new release but, I will release the updated Docs as soon as they are completed and I will probally also include them online as part of the site here.

Stay tuned folks, more updates are coming!

UOXC FTP Server Changes

Sargo sent me the following:
Wanted to drop a line and let everyone else know that the UOXC FTP server has changed a bit. I had to change the port to 40 instead of using the standard port of 21. Port 21 being being blocked by my ISP has forced this change. IP address is still the same, just the port changed.

UOX-Classic Updates

From UOX-Classic:
I would like to announce the UOX Classic FTP site.

The UOXC FTP is to replace sourceforges CVS to make getting the most recent source code a breeze.

Simply connect to 24.236.163.231 (port 21) anonymously and you can download the most recent code by downloading the contents of the most recent dated directory. Its that simple! Also there are two other directories, one for uploading any scripts you wish to share with everyone and the other for uploading any World Builder templates you wish to also share.

Anonymous logins can upload to the script and template directories but they can not upload to the source code directories. Uploads are restricted to Developers only.

I have but one rule for uploading of scripts and templates...

Only text files allowed to be uploaded (with one exception: a single gif or jpg picture is allowed to show a screenshot of a uploaded template) ALL other files will be deleted without prejudice! Any file found to contain harmful content (such as a virus) will result in that individual being banned permanently from the FTP, UOXC forums, and will be placed on a 'Black List' of users to avoid for shard admins. So yes, this means that ALL data transfers are monitored and logged by username (where applicable) and by IP address.

Developers:

If you are a developer and you do not yet have an active FTP account, please E-mail me (sargo001@chartermi.net ) to setup an account for you. Include the username and password you wish to use. DO NOT allow someone else to use your account to upload content. Access from different IP addresses may be questioned and result in suspension of your account until the IP question can be explained. So if you are on DSL, please let me know. As a developer you can upload to all directories and create new ones in the source directories only(see below) When you upload your code changes, be sure to upload the entire code (all code files, including make files) and not just the edited files by themselves. This will save a lot of confusion in the long run. To upload your code changes/fixes create a new directory with the current days date and upload your code to that directory. Also, include a detailed change log documenting the changes that you have made and include the reasons for the change.

UOX-Classic Back On Track

From UOX-Classic:
As many of you can see that UOXC is finally getting back on track. This process is still going to take some time as I get the site finished and get the files and such uploaded. We are short on Developers at the moment but this shouldnt be a huge issue.

This "getting back on track" phase most likely wont come as quickly as some of you would like. So please bear in mind that school is just around the corner so a good portion of my time is getting ready for that. I am aloso pushing for a job change at this time so I hope things go well with that. SO wish me luck and I will get the site and coding back up to speed in the near future.

In the mean time I will be focusing on opening my shard ( I did plan on having it already open weeks ago, but the hosting issue came up (always seems to be somehting preventing it opening *sigh* )) and getting the most recent files uploaded and linked to.

So once again please bear with me while I get things taken care of. Thanks Everyone for you patients and your support !

UOX-Classic Gets A Facelift

This is a couple days old:
UOX Classic has a new look yet once again. I dropped the phpnuke site to a more favorable and more maintainable site. I know very little about php that to run a php site was a folly move. So I hope you all enjoy the new site! :)

The planned UOXC House of Commons Chat was sort of... shall we say... 'PKed'... The chat has been reschedualed for Aug 14, 2003 @ 8:00pm EST. Providing LCoA can still host the shard for us. So yes, the chat will be held in-game once again!

At this time I am requesting that the current developers, coders, scripters who wish to continue to work on the EMU to please email me with their intent. I need to hear from you by Aug 13, otherwise you will be considered 'off the project'

UOXC is into a reorganization phase, once we figure out who is going to continue to work on the emulator, we will continue coding and scripting.

Source code will be handled completely different than from the CVS. The source will still be freely available as before, but it will be much easier to obtain! No more hassles trying to get a copy of the most recent code from the CVS! I'll have more details on this in the near future.

From UOX-Classic:
Yes, its true! The CVS now has been updated with all the latest and greatest fixes! Many are ported from UOXC:NS, with many thanks going to Cyberspud for his work on those fixes for New Sorsaria.

Please note that a few scripts have also been updated and are required as well to insure proper shard functionality.

To see the new Change Log that has been included with the source code (on the cvs) for a near complete history of all changes since UOXC started, including the recent changes Click Here.

And yes, I will have a test package for everyone by Monday evening. (Sorry, but I will be out of town this weekend so I wanted to at least get the CVS updated)

UOX-Classic Code Updates Coming

From UOX-Classic:
In the recent lack of news and posts, I have continued to port Cyberspuds changes from his NS code. I was nearly finished until I seen his latest update (0.9g) and this update of his, has some major issues that I feel needs to be added as well. So, with that I will continue to add his hard work to UOXC for everyone to enjoy.

Besides the porting of Cybers work, I have also stunmbled across a few bugs that have been overlooked for quite some time, and a couple new ones as well. So, I will fix those issues and begin testing before I commit the changes to the cvs. I also ask that -sk- and/or Merlock to get a hold of me so the new code can be tested under Linux. I am a complete Linux moron so I cant test under that platform. Thanks Guys!

UOX-Classic HoC Poll And IRC Update

From UOX-Classic:
Ok, the next HoC has been talked about for some time now, on and off the forums, and no specific time can be decided on. This really isn't a big surprise since R-L must always come first and then we have so many different time zones to contend with, makes it very difficult. So.... I have placed a poll for everyone who plans on attending, pick the best time for you. and the result with the most votes will be the official time.

Sorry folks for such the delay in this, but with this being a 3 day weekend, many people probally have plans other than sitting at home. so thats the main reason for my hesitation in schedualing an absolute date and time. Feel free to comment on this.

Also, I would like to announce that I have regained control of the IRC channel and have reinstated the IRC web chat client for the site.

UOX-Classic Gets A Face Lift

The UOX-Classic site has had a major web-site facelift. Looks great. From UOX-Classic:
Ok all, I have finally changed the style of the site. I sifted through several examples and finally decided on this one.

Yeah now I know there are some of you out there wondering why I'm messing with this instead of the code or the shard. To simply put it, so I have one less thing distracting me. This is just something that I thought was long over due! The old style just didn't have any charater to it when you really think of it. So I hope you like it. So cast your vote and let me know what you think.

Also note that a new section has been added. This section links directly to the CVS site and the bug tracker. I will be disabling the bugs section within the forums soon in order to use the CVS's better tracking capabilities. The features request section on the forums will also be deleted soon in favor of the CVS tracking for that as well. So, please use them from now on. This will help us sort things out and makes things much easier in the long run. Thanks Everyone!

UOX3 Classic News - Updates From Sargo
Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at 06:39 AM
From UOX-Classic:
Just a quick note for everyone on what I'm currently working on.

First I'm still updating the 2.0 code by porting Spuds NS code. Its proving to be a huge task! (Go Spud! And Thanks for sharing the code with us all!) I don't have a time frame as to when I'll have the code committed to the CVS, sorry. It shouldn't be to much longer though.

I have also been working on the web site for the shard. I chose to go with a more traditional style for the site (away with the php) Php is ok for general news and such (my opinion) but for a more specific role, it just doesn't quite fit in (again, my opinion) The site is about 75% done and when I'm satisfied with it, I will post the url.

Finally, work continues on the official shard. The to-do things are getting fewer and fewer, its mostly down to the small tedious things that have to be done. Again, no specific date it will open :( The official shard has been in developement for a little over a year now and i must appologize for those of you patiently waiting for so long. The reason why is that i have done about 80% of the work myself (stuff that isn't code releated that is, that was about 99% ofCyberspud's work) So, everything is moving along very nicely and a bit quicker than I actually thought it would take.

I also plan on giving the UOXC site a facelift in the near future, which will probally just consist of a new theme, havent decided on that just yet.

That's about it for now. I'll post any further updates as they come up. Thanks everyone for listening to my dribble. :)

Posted on UOX-Classic:
I finished up the last of this semesters courses, and did a bit bettert han I figured (Go, Me!) But on to more interesting things...

I have posted the new CVS Guidelines I wish to use. They are not set in concrete! (I'm more than willing to discuss them and edit them to further progress the EMU) They are pretty basic and should be easy to follow thru with.

Also, I have been porting a lot of Spud code from NS to UOXC as I go. So the code will be pretty much the same till we start off with new things NS doesn't have. NO, it isn't NS code completely. I have made a few changes (nothing big) but other than that its pretty much the same.

Once I get much of the code tested to be sure it still works for UOXC (no reason it shouldnt), I'll kick off the with a CVS update, which will include new scripts (some updated and some new) A change log will be included with a bit more detail as to what has been done up to this point. (going all he way back to UOXC 1.0!) Documentation is another issue I need to think about. It may slow things down a bit when working on code but I think I can keep a handle on it as we go.

I'll keep everyone posted on how things are going! Thanks to everyone for their work and their patience. UOXC will continue to grow and strive to be the best there is!

Sargo Creates Plan - New CVS Guidelines

Sargo posted the following over on UOX-Classic:
Ok, I have given much thought into how to handle the CVS and the code. I'm currently typing up the basic guidelines for developers to go by.

Needless to say that some peole will argue with how things are going to have to work. and some will be releived. I can't please everyone, and I'm not going to try sorry to say. That would be inpossible to do with how UOXC has grown over the last year.

I will continue to think on what I have and try to head off any arguements in the process before I post them. SO dont worry all, I'm still on the job! I have been helping out Cyber with a major overhaul of the NPC script for both NS:2 and UOXC alike :)

Sargo Clears Air - UOX-Classic Will Go On
Monday, Apr 7, 2003, at 06:02 AM
Sargo sent in the following response:
Yes, no fingers were pointed at anyone, but tiggermcat for a brief second and Nightcrawler pointed out that he didnt even access the cvs so yes, he was cleared but, I never actually fired anyone, just removed everyone access from the cvs until I can figure out how to handle this faulty code and get back on track. Night was nice enough to relay the the message to Tigger that yes, he didnt cause any problems with the code.

But now I see he continues to provoke a dead issue? Hmmm... So, I maybe wrong but mentioning his name without fully knowing who is to blame, oh well. Not like I have never made a mistake before. But after talking with Night and I figured it was behind us. Perhaps, I was wrong yet again. Well, now that I have been called a backstabber and not even to my face, I come here and read it first hand. Needless to say I wasnt surprised. But in any case, with an attitude such as that, and expecially after the discussion with Night, not even 12 hours before the news was posted here, I dont think I would want a person working on the code if they cant even confront me personally and go off and act in this manner.

Maybe he submitted the email before I talked with Night on this matter, and if so fine, thats ok, I'll drop it and that will be the end of it, but if the mail was sent afterwards?

I can't ignore such things. I simply can't. If I do, then things will get worse and/or out of hand quickly. What was originally said by Tiggermcat in the first part of the news was based on pure assumption! If, I wanted to fire him, I would have said so, to him personally and privately and the reasons why. I try to be as fair as possible but when that gets abused I have to take action. I think that about covers my thoughts on it.

NowI can officially say.... UOXC will continue on!

Now that I beleive I have WinCVS working on my win2k machine ( listens for the snickers about 2k ) I'm waiting for my key to be registered with SF. Then the code will revert back to the 2.0 release and continue on from there.

As for who will have access to the CVS? Thats not clear as of yet but, I have re-instated 2 developers already and had planned on adding back more today, but that will be put on hold for now due to this incident. This is the first major problem UOXC has had since its concept over a year ago. And as we all know, that trying to keep a project on track is by all means not easy. (Hats off to the original UOX3 team here!)

I hope everyone understands that we can't be jumping to conclusions! This is the result of such actions. As I told many who have asked. That I wasnt sure how to proceed at the time. But I have a good idea how to handle the code. Just to be patient and I would post news about whats going to happen in the next week or so.

UOX-Classic Boots Tiggermat, Blamed For Bad Coding
Friday, Apr 4, 2003, at 06:12 AM
Tiggermat (maker of WorldMaker) sent me the following email stating that UOX-Classic had fired him and blamed him for the current state of UOXC. Afterwards, Tiggermat mentioned that he was "cleared from screwing up the code" since he only had worked on a wee bit of PHP.
Hail It's I Tiggermcat former worker on uoxc. Tonight or whenever I been kicked off as a Dev, well hell we didn't even have a team. I know the code got screw up in the cvs and I guess I was blamed for all of it? For my ideas and all the stuff I saw uoxc could be. Wait a second the only thing I ever code was a php file gen for the shard status. This wasn't even add to the cvs only posted as I never used cvs in my life. So, looks like I been cleared from screwing the code up now. But, going back to uoxc to code if even asked would I? After being back stabbed? Depends I follow nightcrawler we think alike and get along good. So as far as the uoxc world goes for me I might code for uoxc or I might start my own spin off uoxc 2.0 and fix it.
When I hear Sargo's response, I'll post it.

Update:

CyberSpud sent me the following:
Hey, InfymusI hope this finds you well. I realize it isn’t any of my business, but I saw Tiggermcat’s rant and wanted to respond. Sargo has put UOXC in a sort of “lock down” mode until he figures out what he wants to do. Tiggermcat wasn’t the only one who had write access removed from the CVSI believe only two folks currently have write access. I’m not sure where Tigger got the impression that anyone thought “it was his fault”I don’t think anyone has pointed even a single finger. Last I heard Sargo was trying to get CVS to work correctly on his computer so he could revert the code back to 2.0.

UOX-Classic To Revert to 2.0 Codebase? Start Over?
Thursday, Apr 3, 2003, at 06:46 AM
The following discussion has started up over at UOX-Classic:
Lets at least find out who the coders are. and then the scripters. and then the bugs that need worked. we should go from the 2.0 and work on it till it is stable, bug free, and most importantly still the fundamental emu that is has been. I dont take things for granted usually but it seems that with this as well as many others, we have taken for granted the dedication and commitment to the UOXC emu. Maybe a break is all that is needed for a time. who knows?

Anyway there are enough people to get this thing together and right. Trust me If I knew how to code and make programs work and so on. I would be on this like stink on poop. But i know how to script and thats about that. I love this emu and the folks who have been invovled for so long. Its a shame to see it stumble and fall again. As a die hard defender of UOXC,to all those who are into other emu's, I hate to see this sort of thing. What needs to happen unfortaneatle is: a team of coders needs to be formed, and the project just needs to be taken and worked with. the code is available and everything is available. a couple people who can do this stuff(keeping UO fundamentals in mind) need to get to gether and just do it.For the good of the UOXC community if for nothing else. I dont want to go to another EMU and relearn all the crap I have learned over the last year. I really dont. This is by far the best deal going and it just needs someone with some initiative to grab it by the proverbial horns and go with it.

My suggestion is this. anyone who codes/programs, should all get together and swap ICQ numbers or whatever. make a plan and get cracking on it. I think though even then all the stuff should be run by Sargo and spud if they arent involved. Please lets get this thing rolling out and stomping the shit out of all other emu's. Its due time for UOXC to reclaim its rightful place at the helm of the emulator community. thanks for your moment.

UOX-Classic Dead? - Continued Discussion...
Tuesday, Apr 1, 2003, at 06:35 AM
A discussion on Sargo's rant has begun in the UOX-Classic Forums.

Dedritch writes:
"Most people don't even read the current news... although the headding of "I'm Done" may have grabbed some extra attention of people who's first thought was of the shard... I had spoken with Sargo on this subject a couple of times in the past couple of months. The Emu started getting too buggy to use at all, and one of the biggest claims that we had was our stability. It was some time ago that Sargo switched to Spuds UOXC:NS Emu for the "Official UOXC" shard, just so that it would be stable enugh to do the work needed to get it up! Personaly, I do hope that things work out to keep UOXC here and under Sargo's control. He may not be a great coder, but he has been a big part of the driving force behind this site and this Emu. This biggest thing I can see aginst it is that the one person who is most responsible for the code changes and the stability that we once had, is CyberSpud. Now that he's branched off (makes you wonder if he knew this was going to happen), UOXC lost is best coder. Spud was also very picky about his code and would spend nights banging his head to figure out where a small bug was. I think we all got a little spoiled by his perfectionism. My hope is that Sargo and CyberSpud go back into a joint effort."
Dreamweaver adds the following:
"Well, as far as me not posting, this is the first time I've seen it. Before I posted, I emailed Sargo directly. Asking him not to jump until the firecrew had the little parachute ring to catch him. I for one know that I"m pretty damned new to UOXC, and was JUST listed as a dev for the code. Having not touched the actual code yet, I am saved from insult knowing I haven't done anything. I was still reading the code I had trying to understand what was being done to try to learn where and how I could help. In my email to Sargo I simply stated there are a lot of us out here who love UOXC and that I for one am more than willing to help and follow orders. I'm not brave enough to commit a change without knowing how it will effect everything else. Right now as I type this, KatzD and I are building a basic signs/doors world file for Sargo. We don't want to see it die. We can pull this out, let's go back to the source for the last release, fix the bugs, then go from there. I guess what I'm trying to say is.... We Love You Sargo!!!"

UOX-Classic Dead? Sargo Rants...
Monday, Mar 31, 2003, at 06:30 AM
Out of the blue UOX-Classic takes a major hit:
Yup, I have had enough. Now that the code is so screwed beyond belief and since I personally cant code to save my ass, I relied on those who could code while I tried to maintain focus and keep the porject on track.

Well, I gave people the bennifit of the doubt and gave them their chance to code and what did I get? SCREWED, more or less. The code is so buggy and full of bugs no and after I made a post about things need to be fixed before anything else gets added...hmmm... all coding stopped period (how strange) People screwed with the code and added whatever they wanted without checking with others as to what was being done. Just wrecklessly added code and didnt core what it broke.

During this time only 1 person truely seemed to have any interest and actually tried to fix the bugs. Now that the cvs hasnt been updated for almost an full month. I'm pulling all access from everyone and I going to think about what to do with the whole thing. The domain name needs to be renewed in about 2 months but at this time I see no reason to do so. Noone has given me a real reason to keep it worth the while. Now that the code is so screwed by the developers who cared nothing more than what they wanted to add no matter what the cost.

So... what happens to UOXC? I will decide that in a week or two. Yes I might let it die, and yet I might keep it going, who knows at this time. For now i have to find a way to revert the code back to the 2.0 source to get rid of all the B.S. code that made UOXC a fricking joke.

Client 4.0.0e Probs Solved - UOGateway At Fault?
Tuesday, Mar 25, 2003, at 06:06 AM
Sargo posted the following over on UOX-Classic:
After some testing with Cyberspud and myself, we beleive we have figured out the reason for the login problem with the latest Uo client (4.0.0e). The problem seems to be with UO Gateway itself! I created a no-crypt client using UO_rice and I dont have a single problem logging in now, to either the official shard of to New Sorsaria 2 (Cybers shard).

Of course this was tested with Cybers modified code for his shard for NS2, and UOXC still has a login issue, it seems that its related to the weather packet during login, so you will still need the older client (4.0.0c) to login onto a UOXC shard.

So I would like to ask Mr. Fixit if he would be kind enough to look into this for us here at UOXC and possible a fix for us? Thanks Mr. Fixit :)

UOX-Classic Official Shard Updates

From UOX-Classic:
YES! ITS TRUE! The Official shard for UOXC is finally in its final stages before the grand opening! The entire map (standard OSI) has been fully decorated. Just pending the final freeze process to finalize it all. Also some script work needs to be done and some spawn tweaking (Over spawned in some areas) Once I'm happy with the scripts (for the most part) I will open the shard to the public.

UOX-Classic: Client Problems Caused by Client 4.0.0e
Friday, Mar 21, 2003, at 06:30 AM
From UOX-Classic:
I have placed the last working client.exe in a zip file and placed it in the downloads section (Other Misc Programs) for everyone who patched their client to the latest version (4.0.0e)

The 4.0.0e client will prevent anyone from logging into a UOXC shard. So download the 4.0.0c client from the downloads section and replace it with the recent patched OSI client

Make a backup of the 4.0.0e client first, if you play on OSI shards!

Hopefully this will help resolve login issues till we can get a fix for this problem.

UOX-Classic Site Problems
Wednesday, Mar 12, 2003, at 06:26 AM
Sargo's working on the UOX-Classic Site trying to get it fixed:
Just want everyone to know that the site seems to be breaking down suddenly at teh moment. Its kicking out a few errors as you can see in the home page with the news. I had to disable the past news block for the same reason. I have been trying to track down the cause of the problem but to no avail. The php code is correct so there should be no reason for this to happen. So Im thinking of changing the style of the site.

The news is mostly to let everyone know that I know the site is having problems and that its being looked into. Just not sure what direction I wish to take just yet.

UOX-Classic Poll
Friday, Mar 7, 2003, at 06:36 AM
I haven't posted anything on UOXC in a very long time. From the UOXC site:
A new poll has been added to see what the users of UOXC would like.

The amount of times listed in teh poll are the desired length of time you would like to see neccisary to GM a skill. I disagree with how OSI currently handles this, so I think its only fair to leave it up to the users to decide how they would think its best to do. :)

UOX-Classic is moving to a new domain, http://www.uoxclassic.com/.
This will be the official site for UOX Classic once everything is up and running...

Please keep in mind that this is a hobby for the many of us. We are limited to the amount of time we have to work on such a project, so many items and features of the site and EMU are a work in progress.

UOX-Classic Release Update
Tuesday, Sep 17, 2002, at 06:34 AM
The following was posted on the UOX-Classic Forums:
Code-wise the release is complete but, there still remains the huge task of documenting everything and updating the Docs for the release. This will take some time to do. So please everyone be patient and will have basically a whole new EMU! SO much has been fixed and added is makes my head spin

I know many of you will be shocked to see some of the additions and changes that were made... including a complete rewrite of the walking code, which is very impressive indeed!

I know some of you will be asking... " What can I do to help?" as so many of you do.. and, thanks for the offer But I think it would get rather confusing to a lot of you to try to write some Documentation for something you didnt know existed hehe.

Some of the Docs will still be incomplete but, most should be updated or expanded on as we all learn as we go. But, I will say that Ignition will no longer be included with the all in one package. Simply because I dont know how to update the cfg file. Mr. Fixit was the one doing just that for all of us for so long and if he decides to stop doing it for some resaon, well be left in the dark. UO Gateway lite will be included with the future releases. But thats just one of the many things that are being done for UOX Classic.

CyberSpud and myself feel that everyone should be very pleased, and inpressed with the many things that have improved! *keeps fingers crossed* I still dont have a date set for the release.. still to much to do to try to set a date. Sorry. I wil keep everyone posted.

UOX-Classic 1.2 Released
Friday, May 3, 2002, at 06:28 AM
UOX-Classic 1.2 has been released:
  • Enhanced NPC AI -CyberSpud (Closely resembles OSIs NPC AI)
  • Combat And Taming In Caves Fix - Webrunner
  • LBR Animations Activated In 2D Client -Webrunner
  • LBR Mounts Added - Webrunner (Also includes code to prevent mounting a pet while it's fighting, as on OSI shards)
  • LBR Sounds Activated In 2D Client - Webrunner
  • Combat Speed Fix - Pa'ka (Combat speed is now calculated using your current stamina instead of your DEX. As your stamina gets lower, so does your swing speed)
  • Hunger For Pets Added - Pa'ka (Pets now need to be fed in order to stay tamed, use of animal lore skill will show the current hunger level of your pet. Also messages are given before a pet becomes wild once again)
  • ITEM and NPC Scripts Cleaned Up and Orgainzied - Folci and Sargo (Complete reorganization of these scripts, shows numerical breaks, also removed unneeded entries within the scripts)
  • Updated Create Script - CyberSpud and Sargo (Now includes the new ore types and added a few missing items from the make lists)
  • Many New NPCs And Items Added - Nearly Everyone (So many people submitted their scripted NPCs and new Items it would be very difficult to remember who gave what, so Im just going to say nearly everyone contributed, just so I dont forget to mention someone and upset them or miscredit their work)
  • Fixed 'SETMOVABLE 2 Command - CyberSpud (Now items that have had 'SETMOVABLE 2 done to them, are only movable by a GM! This makes world building so much nicer! Before, no matter who you were, a 'SETMOVALBE 2 item couldn't be moved by anyone. Now, only a GM can move an item and they will get a userfriendly "You have the authority the move that" so you know it is GM-only)
  • Stone Wall and Blood Non Decay Issue Fixed - Webrunner
  • Server Crashing by Mounted NPCs - Webrunner (A fix for mounted NPCs casting magic was added. The crash was a result of no combat animations for mounted NPCs.
  • Seasons Added - Webrunner (values for SEASON: 0-spring 1-summer 2-fall 3-winter 4-undead 5-unknown (rotating I think) This SEASON varible is found in the Server script, SECTION TIME_LIGHT Section)
  • Default Weather Setup And Working - Dedritch and Sargo
  • Cartography Map Fix - Webrunner
  • Updated Iginition.cfg - Mr. Fixit (Supports client Version up to: 3.0.7e)
  • Documentation Updated - Sargo (Includes several tutorials on how to work with triggers and other world building issues. UOX Classic website links also changed to reflect the new site location)

UOXC 1.2 Nearing Release

Found on UOX-Classic News:
"UOXC 1.2 is nearing completion! A lot has been added just code wise and even more will be evident within the scripts as well. Big features include Cybers Pathfinding AI, New LBR animations added, as well as the new mounts. Verdat.mul file compatability for LBR support. Mountainous cave fighting has been fixed. Other things added include.... Pets will now need to be fed and Combat has been tweaked a bit, the speed of weapons is now based on your current stamina, instead of the Dex stat. This means the less stamina you have left, the slower the weapon swings."

UOX-Classic Website Moved
Thursday, Feb 28, 2002, at 06:42 AM
Uox Classic site has been moved to a new host. Mainly due to the numerous banners and popups that plague the site with the old host. A few other reasons why I have moved the site include limited file storage, limited space for site, as well as no php, cgi, or perl support.

I certainly hope you find the new host and site to your liking. So please update your bookmarks when you get to the new site location. And dont forget to register on the new forums. The old forums will still be up for reference but they will be locked from additional posts, so dont worry about losing the info thats there.
